On Tuesday, the Georgia Senate passed a measure that would put the question of legalizing sports betting in the hands of Georgia voters who will cast ballots in November.

Now, it is up to the residents to determine the fate of sports betting in the state.

They'll have better luck putting it to vote than to have more conservative legislators outright approve this. Hopefully it passes. But if it does, I'm afraid it will take two years to go live. Of course, I'm hoping to be wrong in my timeline estimate- the earlier, the better.

Thanks to my bookie pay per head I'm working from home, and can travel anytime (let me know where to!)

Its long awaited, and much delayed as it is! Voting will hopefully put this to rest.

hopefully it will work this time. Its been years since they have been trying to legalize it. Now that its legal in Florida and almost all surrounding states, they must be in a hurry to legalize it since all of the betting money is leaving the state

I hope voters will make the right decision in the upcoming elections.

Georgia sports betting didn't reach the ballots. As usual, state lawmakers failed to pass legislation. They argued about how to spend the tax revenue from sports betting.

Oh wow. Georgia is still taking its sweet time. Also such a politically safe decision to pass it on to the voters instead. lol

I like reading and contributing to sportsbook reviews, and other things that interest me, like books and films. Love the challenge of betting especially when it comes to basketball and football.

Once again, Georgia has chosen not to allow sports betting this year. There was also the question of whether or not a constitutional change was necessary to legalize sports betting. Not all lawmakers felt it needed one. Legislator Bill Cowsert is among those who think one should be in place. That would allow the people of Georgia to have their voices heard.
