James Harden Takes Pay Cut to Stay with 76ers

Much of basketball and sports news that you will be reading lately will be on the NBA Free Agency. It is, after all, one of the biggest events in the NBA outside the games. And with so many high-profile players up for free agency this year, things are definitely very exciting. One player that stands out is James Harden. Many think that Harden, at 33, is not performing as well as he did before, especially after last season. But injuries and training and conditioning issues aside, Harden has a lot to offer.

And basketball betting fans will be happy to hear that Harden will be staying with the Philadelphia 76ers. He signed a 2-year contract with a player option in the second season. What’s interesting is, Harden will be taking a $15 million pay cut from the $47.3 million max salary that he could have gotten for the player option this season.

James Harden and the 76ers

James Harden Takes Pay Cut to Stay with 76ersHarden’s pay cut will allow the 76ers to have more freedom to get more players. The 76ers are aiming for getting former Rockets player P.J. Tucker in the non-taxpayer mid-level exception. They also plan to get Danuel House Jr. for the bi-annual exception. While many think that Harden is sacrificing to win, he also still gains in terms for an extra year of financial security with the player option.

Harden, together with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris, plus House and Tucker joining in, it will not be a surprise to see the Rockets have a better chance to get to the playoffs this coming season. So make sure that you have your sports betting software up and ready for the NBA, as things will definitely be more exciting.
