I just saw that Missouri was able to put on the ballot for November the option to make sports betting legal. After so many attempts, I am wondering if they will be able to do it if the decision is made by voters. I hope that they do since they have a lot of sports teams. The only problem is that only 38.3% of prospective voters would support a measure for sports betting, while 35.4% would turn it down. Another 26.3% of poll respondents are undecided about whether or not to support a sports balloting measure.

This will really depend on the lobbyists and how they will position the bill to the public. I am not too privy to the sports betting bill, but do we know where the tax proceeds will go? Because Nebraska will propose that the real estate tax be reduced, and then the tax revenue from sports betting will replace that. Since residents will largely benefit from this, they have mentioned in surveys that they will support the bill and vote for its approval.

If Missouri can do something similar and offer tax revenues from wagering to go to a popular social or economic program, they can definitely use this to encourage people to vote yes on the ballot.
